Obituary: David French
David Allan French, 80, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024. David was born on February 3, 1944, in Bridgeport, CT and was the son of the late Earl French and Ruth Duncan.
Beloved husband of 55 years to the love of his life, Terry Sue French. David was the proud owner and operator of D. A. French Associates, a business specializing in automotive truck appraisals for insurance claims throughout Connecticut. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a devoted husband and father as well as a Little League baseball and basketball coach, renowned for his ability to discover and nurture each child’s unique strengths on the field and court.
David’s dedication extended far beyond sports and the field, leaving a lasting impact on countless young Milford lives and earning their gratitude for years to come. Gentle and easy-going, David was a lifelong Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets fan and also a very enthusiastic supporter of the UConn women’s and men’s basketball programs.
He found joy in photography, vacationing and golfing in Myrtle Beach, attending his grandchildren’s games and performances, and savoring every dance with his beloved wife. A true lover of music, David had a special place in his heart for taking drives in his car and listening to the timeless sounds of DooWop, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Steve Tyrell.
David was also very well known for having a sweet tooth, and always enjoyed a couple of chocolate frosted donuts with sprinkles while having his morning Dunkin Donuts coffee. One could say this sweet tooth extended far beyond the joy of his favorite dessert and was a certain sweetness for life itself. David embodied these values in a life truly well lived; a life full of love and dedication to his family and everyone he encountered. He loved children, animals, nature, weather and all the little wonders of the Earth. Most importantly he loved his friends, people and strangers alike. He saw the best in everyone without judgement and never ever took this life for granted.
In addition to his beloved wife, Terry, he is survived by his son Sean French and his wife Julie French, granddaughter Raegan French, and grandson Avery French. As well as his niece Carrie O’Malley and her husband Ron, nephew Douglas French, and many additional beloved family and friends. David is predeceased by his beloved son Todd French.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Prayer Service to begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford.
