A Culinary Journey Around the World: Haroset Tasting Event

Congregation Or Shalom's Adult Education program is offering a unique culinary experience this March: "Haroset Around the World!" This special event, taking place on Sunday, March 9th from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, will explore the diverse traditions of haroset making within Jewish communities across the globe.
Haroset, a symbolic paste traditionally eaten during Passover Seders, typically includes fruits, nuts, and spices, representing the mortar used by the Israelites in ancient Egypt. While the core ingredients remain consistent, the specific combinations and cultural influences create a fascinating array of regional variations.
Attendees will have the opportunity to witness a demonstration of different haroset recipes and indulge in a tasting session, discovering the unique flavors and textures that distinguish each version. From classic Ashkenazi blends to Sephardic interpretations and beyond, this event promises a delightful exploration of Jewish culinary heritage.
The cost of the event is $10 per person. Those interested in attending can register online at https://www.orshalomct.org/event/passover-cooking-event.html.
Don't miss this chance to expand your palate and learn about the rich cultural tapestry woven into this traditional Passover dish! The event will be held at Congregation Or Shalom, located at 205 Old Grassy Hill Road, Orange, CT.
