OVNA Blood Pressure Checks

Join us on Thursdays from 12:00-1:00p, for blood checks with an OVNA nurse.  Call 203-891-4788 with questions.

Adult Coloring

Carol Imperati will lead us on the first Monday of the Month, July 3 at 12:30pm for Adult Coloring.  Lots of Fun!

Arts & Crafts

Lunch & Fun:  Healthy Relationships

AARP Driving Class

AARP Driving Course will be offered on the first Thursday, July 6 from 9-1:00pm.  Call the office to register (203) 891-4784.  $20 for members, $25 nonmembers.  Pay instructor.

Lunch & Fun:  Lotus Lantern Craft and South Korean Documentary

Drumming

Join us on Thursdays with Dennis at 11:00am for Drumming.  Limit 19 participants for this fun and aerobic activity.

Classic Movie of the Month

Join us July 7 at 1:00pm for CODA.  As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family.  Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents.  Chips and soda will be served.  Call to reserve a seat.

All American Pet Day

On July 11th, we’ll be showing our slide show of our members and staff’s pets in honor of All American Pet Photo Day!  Thank you to all of you who submitted photos.  Be sure to reserve lunch that day in the café and enjoy the show!

Movie of the Month

Bone Health with Maggie from Griffin Hospital/Parish Nurses

Join us on July 18 at 1:00pm when Maggie from Griffin Hospital presents Bone Health and offers Osteoporosis Screenings.  If you want the Osteoporosis Screening you will be asked to stand on the screening machine with bare feet.  Call 203-891-4784 to register for this presentation.

Documentary & Discussion

Join us July 21 at 1:00pm for The Biggest Little Farm:  The Return.  Follows the Chester family as they transform land into a working farm.  This 1/2-hour documentary focuses more on Emma the pig.  Chips and soda will be served.  Call to reserve a seat (203) 891-4784.  LIMITED to 20 people.

Lexi Crcco Presentation

Lexi will discuss what it is like having Albinism and being a legally blind, award-winning certified professional photographer on July 24 at 1:00pm in the Senior Lounge.  To register call 203-891-4784.

Book Club

The book club normally meets the last Friday of the month at 2:00pm.  The next meeting will be in the senior lounge on July 28.  July’s book is Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Hot Lunch Program

Lunch is offered Monday through Friday, 11:30am – 12:00pm.  No meals on Saturday, or Sunday.  A $3.00 donation is accepted for persons 60+.  Call Ellen at (203) 891-4765 to register.

Maplewood Culinary Presentation

Legal Clinic

The Law office of Floman DePaola has merged with Wiley, Etter, & Doyon, but they are still available the first Wednesday of each month for a free legal clinic.  Some things they will be able to help you with, while others may require an office visit and fee.  To schedule a phone appointment, call 203-891-4784.

Ice Cream Social

Join us on June 26 at 1:30pm in the cafe for an ice cream social.  Bill Benson will perform.  Call the office at (203) 891-4784 to reserve a seat as we need to know how many people are coming so we can have enough ice cream.

Griffin Hospital/Parish Nurses Blood Pressure Check

Maggie of Griffin Hospital will be here the last Friday of the month, June 30 from 10:30-12:00pm to take your blood pressure.  Stop by for this free clinic.

All American Pet Day

Pets make our lives better every day.  In honor of All American Pet Photo Day on July 11th, we’re putting together a slide show of our member and staff pets to show during lunch in the café that day.  Make sure you tell us your name, your pet’s name and what makes them so special to you!  Email your favorite photo to Dennis Marsh, dmarsh@orange-ct.gov by Friday, June 23rd.  Don’t forget to sign-up for lunch on this day and enjoy the show!

Hiking Group

Marianne and Judy will lead us in a 2 mile-ish. 1 hour walk every Thursday at 10am (9am from July, August, & September).  Meet at the location of the hike.

Trips

July 18, 2023:  LOBSTER & A GREAT SHOW @ the Log Cabin with Michael D’Amore, a New York born singer & songwriter.  His new show highlights the very best of the 50s, 60s & 70s.  For lunch is your choice of 1 1/4lb lobster OR Prime Rib, potato salad & cole slaw, lobster & crab cakes, BBQ chicken, dessert with coffee.  Cost is $132pp with transportation (minimal walking).

August 10, 2023:  SHADES OF BUBLE` @ the Aqua Turf - Three-Man tribute to Michael Buble` brings swinging standards and pop hits of Michael Buble`.  The show includes a family style menu: garden salad, pasta, chicken marsala & broiled scrod, vegetable, potato, rolls, dessert and beverage.  Cost is $118pp with transportation (minimal walking).

September 6, 2023:  SONGS of SUMMER @ Amarante’s - Enjoy the Elderly Brothers when they perform at Amarante’s.  The menu includes mixed garden salad, chicken piccata or fillet of salmon with dill sauce, vegetable, potato, strawberry shortcake, soda, coffee & tea.  Cost is $79 drive yourself or $89 and take the Senior Center Van (minimal walking).

September 20, 2023: THE BIG E—Connecticut Day - Board the motor coach for a day at the Big E.  Leaving CT around 9:30am and departing the Big E at 6:00pm.  Cost is $99 with or without transportation (extensive walking).

October 7-16, 2023:  SHADES OF IRELAND visit the Emerald Island (extensive walking).
