Local College Students Conclude First Semester at Eastern Connecticut State University
More than 1,000 students are concluding their first semester at Eastern Connecticut State University this fall 2024. The new students include 808 first-time and 275 transfer students who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate-level programs.
Among the new students are:
- Thomas Denton of Orange, a first-year student who is majoring in Business Administration;
- Ryan Kelly of Orange, a first-year student who is majoring in Business Administration;
- Ethan McDaniel of Orange, a first-year student who is majoring in Health Sciences;
- Lt Morton of Orange, a first-year student who is majoring in Computer Science.
The most popular majors for the new students include business administration, health sciences, psychology, nursing, criminology and computer science. The students come from nearly all of Connecticut’s 169 towns and 20 other states. Outside of Connecticut, the biggest feeder states for the new students include Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island.
These students join a student body of nearly 4,000 who are enrolled for the 2024-25 academic year. Among them is the first-year class of 2028. At more than 800 students, it’s the largest incoming class since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, marking a 32% growth over last year’s incoming class and pushing the overall campus residency to more than 90%. Among the class of 2028, 37% are the first in their families to attend college.
