Upcoming Events at Temple Emanuel 3/11/16

The Adult Education committee at Temple Emanuel has prepared an exciting Scholar-in-Residence weekend, “Mediterranean Mosaic: Three Vignettes of Jewish Life and Culture,” scheduled for March 11-13. Registration is required – details are posted on the TE website. Highlights of the Weekend of Jewish Learning include:

  • March 11 at 5:30 pm – Tot Shabbat, followed by Shabbat dinner at 6 pm and a Kabbalat Shabbat service featuring a presentation by Olga Markus: “My Israel: A Land of Miracles, Inspiration and Complexity”
  • March 12 at 10:30 am – a presentation by Liran Yadgar: “The Jewish Game of Hearts: Judah HaLevi’s Voyage from Spain to the Holy Land,” followed by a dairy luncheon at noon
  • March 13 at 10:00 am – bagel brunch, followed by a presentation by Dr. Philip Balma: “Hiding in Plain Sight: Italian Jews in Mussolini’s Film Industry (and Beyond).

On Saturday, March 26 at 7 pm, Temple Emanuel presents an adult Purim event: Margaritaspiel! This laid-back Purim celebration, created by the Chasen family and performed by members of TE, features songs with a Jimmy Buffet vibe accompanied by the TE Reefers Band. A beach-themed party will follow. Costumes are strongly encouraged. Tickets will be available at the door, but registration in advance is preferred – please see the TE website for details.

Finally, on Friday, April 22, Temple Emanuel will host a community seder, led by Rabbi Michael Farbman. You do not need to be a member of TE to participate, but registration is required – please see the TE website for complete information.
