The Turkey Hill School Student Council has been very busy helping those in need. They hosted two events in November to benefit the Orange Food Bank and the Columbus House Homeless Shelter in New Haven.
The Turkey Hill School Student Council hosted a food drive for the Orange Food Bank. Donations were collected from November 12th to November 16th. Student council members in grades 3-6 planned and coordinated this food drive. They created flyers and made posters to advertise the event. They worked to collect the donations each morning and categorize them for delivery. THS collected enough canned and boxed food items to fill a whole car! This drive was a very big success! On Monday, November 19th the donations were picked up from Turkey Hill in time to fill Thanksgiving food baskets.
On November 16th the student council hosted a pajama day for students and staff. All that participated made a donation to the Columbus House Homeless Shelter in New Haven. In total our school raised $710 which the Columbus House uses to buys gift cards to fast food restaurants for those in need.
We send a huge thank you to all of our students and families who donated to help others in need this holiday season!
