The Turkey Hill School (THS) Drama Club will present an original show, “Halloween, Again” on Friday, April 5th at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 6th at 6 p.m. at Turkey Hill School. The play was written by four THS students and Drama Club Producer, Deborah Sansone.
“Halloween, Again” is about three middle school girls who bully their classmates at a school Halloween party. Before the teachers can do anything about it, a powerful witch casts a spell on the girls, causing them to re-live the night over and over again until they have learned to be kind.
According to Sansone, the club began writing the script last April and continued working on it through January. Claire DeRosa, Ella Fairty, Gary McVety and Josh Rosewater met weekly at school and completed writing assignments at home each week to contribute to the script.
“We were really fortunate to have Kyle Ryan, music teacher at THS, write our opening song for us,” says Sansone.
The club received a Jaime A. Hulley Arts Foundation Grant, which allowed the club to bring in an acting coach and a dance company to help with the production.
“The Drama Club is such a unique and invaluable experience for our students,” says Denise Arterbery, Principal of Turkey Hill School. “It builds confidence, provides a creative outlet, and gives students an opportunity that they might not have tried elsewhere. The fact that students this year learned how to write a play, worked with an acting coach, and took dance lessons is incredibly exciting!
Tickets can be purchased at Turkey Hill School in advance or at the door the night of the shows.
