If music makes the world go round, then the Friends of the Case Memorial Library invite you to step on the bandwagon on Saturday, October 20, at 2:00, when they will sponsor a program of music featuring “Songs from The Academy Awards” performed by the Jim Clark Quartet. We will listen to Oscar-winning songs from the 1930s from Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow” to the more recent Adele hit, “Skyfall.”
The Quartet is composed of Jim Clark, a world-class jazz saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist who performs and records in a wide variety of musical settings and styles. John Mobilio is a multi-talented musician who is a bassist, educator, musical director, and performer. Joe McWilliams is a professional pianist who has played in many countries and recorded extensively with both his own groups and others. Stephanie Harrison is a singer and voiceover artist who has been the voice of Lord and Taylor, Gillette, Shiseido and others, as well as the voice of Mrs. Potato Head in several animated shorts by the Hasbro Company.
The Friends are dedicated to sponsoring programs the community will enjoy. Its three yearly book sales provide the funds for children and adult programs, for museum passes, and for an annual scholarship. The group is always looking for new members who can provide a variety of services from sorting books to decorating the Library at the holiday season to working at the Country Fair and the Book Sales. If you are interested in joining, please call Phyllis Gwatkin at 203.795.4549.
Please register for this program by stopping by the Library or calling 203.891.2170 or even easier, register online from the comfort of your home by going to the Library website, www.casememoriallibrary.org.
