The Garden Club of Orange congratulates Nettie Bartocetti for being honored as this year’s recipient of the Living Treasure Award. The Living Treasure Award is given annually by the Orange Community Services Department to an individual that has devoted a great deal of time to improve the town of Orange.
Nettie and Harry were married, moved to West Point where he fulfilled his draft. As a professional musician they moved several times. Years later they purchased a home in the town of Orange where, at the age of seven, Nettie fell in love with the town when she attended camp at Camp Cedar Crest. They raised four children in the Orange school system and now are the proud grandparents of four.
Nettie joined The Garden Club of Orange in 2000. At the time she already knew most of the club members! She took chairmanship in various committees and became President of The Garden Club of Orange from 2009 to 2011. Nettie initiated and chaired the very successful “Home for the Holiday” House Tour from 2002 to 2012 for The Garden Club of Orange. She was honored with a Life Membership from The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc. in 2011.
Besides The Garden Club of Orange, Nettie was active with the Orangewood Woman’s Club, and served as its President. She is currently the newly elected President of the Women’s Guild at Holy Infant Church. She also serves as Alter Flower Chairperson. She is active with the Republican Town Committee and a member of the Orange Arts Council.
We, The Garden Club of Orange members, are looking forward to celebrate her Living Treasure Award on May 15, 2015 at the Annual Pasta Festa Dinner!
