Summer Events at the Church of the Good Shepherd

Summer Events at the Church of the Good Shepherd

The Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 680 Racebrook Road, Orange, has a busy summer schedule to share with the community. You are invited to participate in our upcoming Healing Prayer Service; Prayer Shawl Ministry; Book Club, Father’s Day Appreciation Car Wash; Youth Group Summer activities; and Vacation Bible School.

All are welcome to join us on the last Wednesday of each month for our Healing Prayer Service with a Prayer Shawl Blessing. Our next healing service will be on Wednesday, June 24th at 7pm. At that time, we will come together to offer prayers and meditations to persons facing health problems. This is a meaningful service that includes a prayer shawl blessing. For all crafters in the community, please join one of our monthly Prayer Shawl Pasta Suppers where crafters come together to knit or crochet prayer shawls. Our next Prayer Shawl gathering will be Sunday, June 28th, 6pm-8pm in the Church of the Good Shepherd’s Parish Hall.

Our lively book club invites avid readers to join us on the last Tuesday of every month. In June, we plan to meet on Tuesday, June 30th @ 7pm to discuss “The Wide and Starry Sky” by Nancy Horan. For the location, please call the Parish Office for directions.

In July, we plan to read a book from the Amity Summer reading list and invite high school readers to join us so they can see how much fun it is to read with friends. Our active Youth Group welcomes all interested young people in junior high and high school. On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21st our Youth Group is hosting an Appreciation Car Wash before, during and after our 9 a.m. service. Please drive by and get Dad’s car washed!

Other summer activities include a mission trip to Queens, New York the week of June 28th through July 3rd. Our annual Farmington River Tubing Trip will be July 23rd and our Annual All-Nighter will be August 21st. RSVPs are required to participate in these Youth Group activities by calling the Parish Office. For younger children in kindergarten through grammar school, we are now accepting registrations for our popular Vacation Bible School taking place the week of July 13th. For more information and reservations, please call the Church of the Good Shepherd’s Parish Office @ (203) 795-6577.
