Devyn Curley Named to Dean’s List at Tufts University
Devyn Curley of Orange, a 2011 graduate of Hopkins School, has been named to the Tufts University Deans’ List for the seventh consecutive semester, where he is studying Mechanical Engineering. In addition, Devyn has been admitted to, and has received a full scholarship for, the Tufts’ Master of Science program in Mechanical Engineering beginning the fall of 2015.
Eastern Connecticut State University Congratulates the Undergraduate Class Of 2015
Willimantic, CT—Eastern Connecticut State University’s 125th Commencement took place at the XL Center in Hartford on May 12. More than 13,000 family members and friends filled the XL Center to cheer on their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as 1,130 undergraduates and 70 graduate students received their diplomas. The following Orange residents earned their degrees: Brian DeFeo graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport & Leisure Management; Taylor Flanagan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and Sociology; Joseph Mortali graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication; Julie Pinciaro graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology; and Jeremy Proto graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Ashley Gherlone Inducted Into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
Baton Rouge, LA—Ashley Gherlone of Orange, Conn., was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Gherlone is pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies at Elon University. Gherlone is among approximately 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
Eastern Student Taylor Flanagan of Orange Inducted Into Sociology Honor Society
Willimantic, CT—Eastern Connecticut State University recently held its annual induction ceremony for Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honor society. Among the inductees was Taylor Flanagan ’15 of Orange, CT, who majors in Women’s and Gender Studies. The mission of Alpha Kappa Delta is to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and other social and intellectual activities that lead to improvement in the human condition.
