Sarah Rippel Participates As Shepherd Intern

Lewisburg, PA—Bucknell University is one of 23 participating schools in the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (SHECP).  Shepherd interns pledge to live on $14 a day and work with poverty-fighting organizations around the nation including public defenders’ offices, food banks, clinics, housing authorities and other agencies in distressed communities.  Sarah Rippel, 2020, of Orange, CT participated in this year’s program.  The eight-week summer program brought to life concepts the students explored in the classroom, grounding their studies of poverty and social justice in reality.

Katelyn Ide Inducted Into Phi Zeta Kappa Honor Society At FDU

Madison, NJ—Orange, CT resident, Katelyn Ide, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus in Madison, NJ, has been inducted into FDU’s Phi Zeta Kappa honor society for the Spring 2017 semester.  Eligibility for membership in the University’s junior honor society is established by completing at least the first 60 credits toward an undergraduate degree.  Of these, 44 must have been earned at Fairleigh Dickinson and a CGPR of 3.20 must have been maintained for all of them.  All the preceding requirements must have been fulfilled prior to the accumulation of 80 credits toward the undergraduate degree.

Orange Resident Completes New Haven, CT Internship

New London, Conn. – Alan James Pite, recently completed a summer internship as a Research Assistant at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT.  Pite is member of the Class of 2018 at Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut.  Connecticut College is one of only a handful of colleges in the country that offers all students a funded internship after their junior year.

Dean’s/Honors List

Students Named To Dean’s And Honors Lists At Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus

Madison, NJ—Students at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus, located in Madison, NJ have been named to the Dean’s and Honors Lists for the Spring 2017 semester.  Lauren Ide of Orange, CT, has been named to the Honors List.  To qualify for the Honor’s List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).  Katelyn Ide of Orange, CT, has been named to the Dean’s List.  To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

Orange Native James Semmonella Graduates From Bates College

Lewiston, ME—James Semmonella, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Semmonella of Orange, Conn., graduated after majoring in politics at Bates.  He is a 2013 graduate of Amity Regional High School.

Orange Students Graduate From The University Of New Haven

West Haven, Conn. – The following students graduated from the University of New Haven in West Haven, Conn., in August:  Ahmed Mohammed G Alghamdi, Bachelor of Science, College of Arts and Sciences, Mathematics with a concentration in Applied Mathematics; Rashed Alkuwari, Bachelor of Science, Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, Fire Science with a concentration in Fire Administration; Caryn Massimino, Master of Science, College of Arts and Sciences, Human Nutrition.
