Dean’s List

Bryant University Students Named To Dean’s List

Smithfield, RI—The spring semester Dean’s List at Bryant University includes the following Orange residents: Sarah M DeFeo, a Junior in Business Administration; Brett W McNeil, a Sophomore in Marketing; and Patrick M Sasso, a Senior in Global Supply Chain Management.

Noelle Bencivengo Named To Castleton Dean’s List

Castleton, VT—Noelle Bencivengo of Orange, CT was recently named to the Castleton College Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2014-15 academic year. To qualify for this academic honor, the student must maintain full-time status and a semester grade point average of 3.5.

Endicott Announces Dean’s List Students

Beverly, MA – Endicott College is pleased to announce the Dean’s List students for spring, 2015. In order to qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no grade below a “C”, have no withdrawal grades, and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester. The following students have met those requirements: Kristen Marie Mencucci is the daughter of John & Patricia Mencucci of Orange, CT. Kristen is a Sophomore majoring in Hospitality Management.

Jaime Bouchard Makes Goodwin Dean’s List For Fall 2014

East Hartford, CT—Jaime Bouchard has earned a spot on the Goodwin College Dean’s List for the Spring 2015. Jaime, a student from Orange, is one of 983 students to make the Dean’s List, reserved for those who demonstrate great academic performance. Dean’s List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.

Hofstra Congratulates Local Students On Spring 2015 Dean’s List

Hempstead, NY—Hofstra University congratulates the students named to the Spring 2015 Dean’s List for their outstanding academic achievement. Students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the semester to make the Dean’s List. Among the Orange students who earned a spot on the Dean’s List were: Beth Backer and Courtney Keating.

Merrimack College Announces Dean’s List For Spring Semester

North Andover, MA—Merrimack College Dean’s List for spring 2015 has been announced. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a 3.25 GPA out of a 4.0 grading system. The following Orange students have earned Dean’s List Status: Christopher Cimmino and Jennifer Post.

Shannon Elizabeth Steeves Named To Dean’s List At Morehead State University

Morehead, KY—Shannon Elizabeth Steeves has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester. Steeves is from Orange, CT. To be eligible for Dean’s List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

Andrea Noss Of Orange Named To SUNY Oswego Deans’ List

Oswego, NY—Andrea E. Noss of Orange, a sophomore majoring in business administration, has been named to the Deans’ List for the spring 2015 semester at SUNY Oswego. The President’s and Deans’ lists represent the academic top 28.5 percent of the Oswego student body. To be included on the Deans’ List, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79.

Maryssa Kozek To Dean’s List At Providence College

Providence, RI—Maryssa Kozek, a resident of Orange, CT and a member of the class of 2015, has been named to the Dean’s List at Providence College for the Spring 2015 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

Sacred Heart University Announces Dean’s List For Spring Semester

Fairfield, CT – Carmela Armellino of Orange was named to the Dean’s List of Sacred Heart University. Carmela is a sophomore majoring in psychology.

Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) Announces Dean’s List

SCSU named the following Orange students to its Dean’s List: Taylor Baker, Christine Boppert, Andrew Catapano, Vincent Ceccarelli, John Cerillo, Miranda Curnane, Miranda Demirjian, Megan Donadeo, Patrick Flynn, Aubree Goldwitz, Paul Klaucke, Ismail Labrador, Kennedy List, Peter Litwin, Sara Livoti, Nora Maklad, Morgan Miller, Cody Peters, Kaelyn Phillips, Samantha Queen, Amin Sheikh, Olivia Sousa, James Steinbrick, Stephanie Toscano and Alexander Woznicki.

Joshua Sabitsky Named to Springfield College Dean’s List

Springfield College has named Joshua Sabitsky of Orange, CT to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2015 term. Sabitsky is studying Athletic Training. Criteria for selection to the dean’s list are as follows: The student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the semester, exclusive of “P”” grades; the student must not have any incompletes, missing grades or “CPs” in the designated semester; the student must have a minimum semester grade point average of 3.500 for the semester; and the student must not have been barred from the dean’s list due to a disciplinary action.

Local Students Named To University Of Hartford Dean’s List

Local Students Named To The Dean’s List At The University Of New Haven

West Haven, CT—Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List. Orange Student Amy Mcneil Awarded Diploma From Assumption College

Worcester, MA—Amy McNeil was awarded a Bachelor’s degree at Assumption College’s 98th Commencement ceremony, graduating with a major in Organizational Communication and a minor in Management. The ceremony was held May 16 on the campus’s H.L. Rocheleau Field, where 455 Bachelor of Arts degrees; 195 graduate studies degrees (Master of Arts and Master of Business Administration) and certificates; and 41 Continuing and Career Education degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, and associates) were awarded.

Endicott College Announces Graduates

Beverly, MA – The seventy-fifth commencement exercises of Endicott College were held on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Over 850 degrees were conferred to students at the master’s, bachelor’s and associate degree levels. The following students received degrees: Lauren Helen Melkus is the daughter of Carl & Gail Melkus of Orange, CT. Lauren majored in Communication and received a Bachelor of Science degree.

Gabrielle Cella Graduates From Tufts Universtiy

Gabrielle Cella (Amity 2011) daughter of Richard and Linda Cella of Orange, CT, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University on Sunday, May 17, 2015, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Ms. Cella has accepted a research position in Cambridge, MA, in the field of Natural Language Processing.

Zipporah Drozdowicz Graduates From UCONN

Zipporah Drozdowicz recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a in Pathobiology and Veterinary Science. She will be attending the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in the fall. Zipporah is the daughter of Drs. Bonnie and Zbigniew Drozdowicz of Orange.

UMass Dartmouth 115th Commencement

Jonathan Norton of Orange graduated with a Bachelor of Science Accounting Summa Cum Laude. This year’s four commencement ceremonies were May 15-18 graduates received undergraduate, graduate and juris doctorate degrees. For more information on commencement go to:

Class Of 2015 Graduates From Union College

Schenectady, NY—Members of the Union College Class of 2015 received their diplomas Sunday, June 14. About 500 students received their degrees at the College’s 221st Commencement on Hull Plaza. Kyle Kalanta of Orange, CT; graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Managerial Economics and Aubri Oliphant of Orange, CT; graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Psychology.

Local Students Graduate From Western New England University

Springfield, MA—The following Orange students received degrees from Western New England University on May 16, 2015: Elissa Ben-Eli, Christopher Murray, and Joseph Tomaselli.


Eastern Student Dana Blydenburg Recognized At Regional Psychology Conference

Willimantic, CT—Dana Blydenburg ’16 of Orange won “Best Poster” at the Northeastern Evolutionary Psychology Society (NEEPS) Conference this past April. Blydenburg’s major is Psychology. Blydenburg’s research was titled “Women Control Male Romantic Partners to Pursue Extra-Pair Partners.” Blydenburg began conducting the research and testing hypotheses while working as a research assistant for Alita Cousins, an associate professor of psychology at Eastern. The poster was selected over 80 others to be named “Best Poster”. Blydenburg and a fellow student worked tirelessly to construct the poster and prepare themselves to present it at the conference. NEEPS is a regional sister organization of the national Human Behavior and Evolution Society. The society is designed to facilitate and promote psychological discussion and scholarly discourse, specifically regarding evolution.

Student Activities

Local Eastern Connecticut State University Student Participates In University Club

Willimantic, CT—This achievement is awarded to students who have participated in Eastern’s clubs during the academic year. The student club programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual, and civic engagement programs that benefit and enrich the Eastern community.

Connor Dunleavy ’16 of Orange, CT, participated in Environmental Club during the spring 2015 semester. Dunleavy’s major is Environmental Earth Science.

Jeremy Proto ’15 of Orange, CT, participated in Ice Hockey Club during the spring 2015 semester. Proto’s major is Business Administration.

Dana Blydenburg ’16 of Orange, CT, participated in Psychology Club during the spring 2015 semester. Blydenburg’s major is Psychology.

Eastern students who participate in clubs/organizations excel in the classroom and do better academically than students who do not participate. Students participating in clubs had an average GPA of 3.10, much higher than the 2.94 average for those students not taking part in any of the 73 clubs/organizations. Clubs/organizations and their programs have a direct impact on the daily life of all students on Eastern’s campus. The programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual, and civic engagement programs, many of which also benefit the local community.

Moran Awarded Gold Star for Academic Achievements

CHARLESTON, SC—Coby Dane Moran of Orange, CT was awarded Gold Stars by The Citadel for earning a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher during the spring semester of the 2014-15 academic year. The cadets were recognized during a special ceremony in May.
