Betsy Ratner’s mixed media art will be on exhibit at the Orange Town Hall during the months of September and October. She is a former educator (AS, BS, MS, 6th year degree in Advanced Studies) of gifted and talented students from nursery school through college level. Her “Mindful Educationˮ passion has led her to explore the Arts. She is a National Award Winning Educator who is a commissioned artist. Betsy combines her formal education with her certifications and art training in dance (NIA), writing (PW–Proprioceptive Writing), healing energy work (Reiki), and her years as a stress relief coach and trainer (MBSR–Mindful Based Stress Reduction, OASIS and Qi Gong). Betsy attended Omega Arts Week and studied abstract expression painting with Jane Davies. She also studied with Barbara Borck-Hart. Visit her website including the Gallery page for a list of art galleries where you can find Betsy’s creations as well as her ongoing shows and memberships. See more at: http://betsyratner.com.
She gathers her materials through walks in nature, finding objects on the ground, exploring recycling bins, friends old household pamphlets, torn books, magazines and newspapers, and re-purposing grocery store packaging (i .e., tomato and onion nylon bags). Everyday ephemera finds its way on the canvas. She hopes that viewers of her work feel the delightful fun and awe in the brilliance of color and the signature backgrounds from which her animal, vegetable, and mineral characters share their energetic wisdom. Perhaps, like her, they will feel a holistic energy flow through them with joy or at least, a healthy smile will transcend.
