Public Works Department Reminder Regarding Plastic Bags

Public Works Department Reminder Regarding Plastic Bags

The Orange Public Works Department announced bins are not being picked up due to contamination of plastic bags in the bins.

***PLEASE NOTE:  PLASTIC BAGS and PLASTIC WRAPS ARE CONTAMINATING OUR RECYCLING.  BINS THAT HAVE ANY TYPE OF PLASTIC BAGS OR BUBBLE WRAP WILL NOT BE PICKED UP***

You DO NOT put plastic bags and wraps in your recycling bin.  But they ARE recyclable.  Put clean, dry plastic film packaging, bags and wraps in bins at local stores, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Shop Rite, and Target or the plastic bag recycling shed at the Transfer Station.

Orange Recycling Committee Chair Mitch Goldblatt reminds everyone that “plastic bags and wrap are NOT to be put into the blue curbside bins.  “We have been trying to spread the word for literally years now, that plastic bags are NOT to be included in the blue bins or mixed recycling at the Transfer Station.  City Carting is having loads rejected due to the plastic bags so they will no longer pick up bins with plastic bags or wrap.”

If you need more information, contact Public Works Office Manager, Sylvie Napoli, at 203-891-4712 or visit www.orangerecycles.com.
