Orange Visiting Nurse Association Flu Clinics

A High Dose Vaccine will be administered people 65yrs of age and older. A Quadrivalent Vaccine for those under 65yrs of age; November 3, 2016 at OVNA office 4:30pm – 6:30pm. No Appointment needed.

ELECTION DAY, November 8, 2016 at High Plains Community Center during the following times on: 8am-11am, 1pm-4pm, & 6pm- 8pm.

You may notice that the clinic dates are scheduled a bit later than usual. This is a direct result of vaccine production and release. Contact the OVNA directly with any questions. (203) 891-4752. Insurances accepted: Medicare, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Connecticare. United Healthcare is not accepted.

Veterans Appreciation Pie Cabaret

Join us for a Veteran’s recognition event in the Senior Café Monday, November 7. The program will start with Apple & Pumpkin Pie from Lyman Orchards at 1:30 pm. At 2:00 pm Clayton Allen will perform, singing various old country songs to show our appreciation to our Veterans. Free admission for Veterans, non Veterans admission is $5. Election Day Transportation

Election Day is November 8. The Orange Transportation program is available for rides for senior Orange residents or persons with disabilities to and from the polls. Call Kim Callahan to schedule a ride at (203) 891-4788.

Movie of the Month

Turkey Hill School Technology Partnership

The Orange Senior Center and the Turkey Hill School have partnered to bring you 3 free Technology Seminars. Session 1 will meet on November 28, 2016, 10am. Learn from the experts, the Kids! Book Club

The monthly book club will meet on Friday December 2. The book is The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende.

Holiday Dinner Dance

Come join us at the Birchwoods at Oak Lane for our annual Senior Center Holiday Dinner Dance on Sunday, December 4 from 12 to 3:30. The Frank Porto Band will be returning as our musical entertainment from 12:30 to 3:30. Meal choice: Chicken Florentine, Stuffed Sole, or Prime Rib. There will be a cash bar. The cost this year will be $30 per person. Many thanks to the generosity of the Orange Foundation Trust U/A, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, who gave us a grant to pay for the music and to reduce the price of the ticket. Payment and meal choice must be made at the time of reservation. Tables will seat 8 to 10 persons. If you wish to be seated with particular people, payment for the group must be made at the same time. Make checks payable to “Treasurer, Town of Orange”. Tickets go on sale November 2.

Blue Holiday Memorial

Orange Community Services and Seasons Hospice will partner to bring “Blue” Holiday Memorial on December 8 at 2pm in the Senior Lounge. We will celebrate and remember the spirit and lives of those who have departed. Coffee and dessert will be served. Call (203) 891-4784 to RSVP.

Vein Health Wellness Seminar Rescheduled

Join us on December 12 from 1-2pm as Corie Scharpf, Regional Community Outreach Coordinator with the Center for Vein Restoration as she discusses vein disease, prevention, symptoms, and new treatments available, and ultrasound demonstration. Wellness Book Club

The Case Memorial Library and the Orange Senior Center have joined together for a Wellness Book Group to be held at HPCC on the last Wednesday of the month at 11:30am. Marianne Pysarchyk, of the Case Memorial Library will lead the monthly meeting. The next meeting will be November 30 and will discuss the book, 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head—A True Story (Dan Harris). Call the Senior Center (203) 891-4784 to sign up.
