The Orange Board of Education unanimously voted in favor of renewing and extending the contract of Superintendent of Schools Vince Scarpetti at its monthly meeting on May 16. Scarpetti joined the district on July 1, 2015. He was formerly principal at West Shore Middle School in Milford for seven years. Prior, he was principal at Milford’s Pumpkin Delight Elementary School and was a teacher in Bridgeport schools. His contract is for one year and continues on July 1, 2016.
“I would like to thank Dr. Scarpetti for his first year in the Orange School system. Our schools, our children and our community has benefited from his excellent leadership,” said board of education member Susan Riccio.
“I want to echo those sentiments as well. I think that we are very fortunate as a town to have Dr. Scarpetti working with us, our schools and our children. I thank you very much for all of your time and dedication. I look forward to having you here for many years to come. Thank you,” said board member Christian Young.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities of overseeing the school district’s operations, Scarpetti has made a conscious (and appreciated) effort to visit schools and become a member of the Orange community. He attended screen-free events held by the elementary school for five evenings in late April in addition to concerts, productions and picnics held throughout the school year.
