Merle Berke-Schlessel, Esq., President & CEO of United Way of Coastal Fairfield County announces the Board of Directors that will lead the organization during the 2015-16 fiscal year, including Orange resident Paul Broadie, II, Ph.D. President of Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut. “We are fortunate to welcome Dr. Broadie to our board of directors,” stated Merle Berke-Schlessel, Esq. “We know that his expertise and leadership in the field of education will be a tremendous asset to the organization and the work we are embarking on, focusing on the student’s entire journey from early school readiness to college and workforce preparation and success. He will help guide us as we create a new story of achievement, cradle to career.”
President Broadie joined Housatonic Community College after serving as the Vice President for Student Services at State University of New York (SUNY) Orange County Community College in Middletown, New York, where he worked since 2005. With over 24 years of progressively responsible higher education experience, Dr. Broadie served as Associate Vice President of Extension Centers for Orange County, Director of the Ossining Extension Center at Westchester Community College and has held a variety of positions at SUNY New Paltz.
As a member of Academic Affairs, at Orange County Community College, Dr. Broadie worked closely with faculty and department chairs to enhance and cultivate teaching and learning while strengthening the institution’s focus on the academic mission. He was also involved in developing successful partnerships with area K-12 schools.
Dr. Broadie received his Ph.D. from Colorado State University, a master in business administration degree from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Mercy College, where he graduated summa cum laude.
