On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, over 150 elementary school children in the town of Orange competed in the 11th Annual “Orange Elementary School Olympic Festival”. The Festival ran for one day only at the High Plains Community Center. Athletes must qualify in order to compete against their peers from the three Orange elementary schools in one or more of the seven festival events. Rain date was set for May 23rd.
One of the goals of the program is to give children an opportunity to display their athletic talents in a school-affiliated venue. Our hope is that many of these children will associate this positive experience with their academic experience, creating feelings of confidence and pride in their work, thus producing the foundation for the development of true student-athletes.
Food from Bella Napoli, On The Border & Rita’s of Milford was available under the pavilion during the event for spectators.
