Orange CERT Team Honors Past Team Leader

Orange CERT Team Honors Past Team Leader

A changing of the guard took place on Wednesday, January 16, at the High Plains Community Center.  The Orange Community Response Team known as (CERT) and invited guests honored Allen Mushin for his 11 years as CERT Team leader.  Allen will now assume the role of Executive Consultant.

CERT is made up of community volunteers who are trained in disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.  The training enables them to assist in basic disaster response operations.

The Orange CERT Team provides sheltering at the High Plains Community Center for residents who have become displaced and need to leave your home due to a disaster or emergency.  Orange CERT also participates in many community events.  Relay for Life, Orange Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival, Orange Agricultural Fair and Trunk or Treat are just a few.

The Orange Community Emergency Response Team is always looking for new members to be a part of the team.  Guests are encouraged to attend a monthly meeting (the third Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 PM, High Plains Community Center).  If you would like to take part in the next training class (TBA), please send Name, Address, Phone and Email to:
