Lee Sekas

Lee Sekas, age 70, of Wethersfield and Orange, CT entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.  Preceded in death by his loving parents, Paul and Mary (Botsolas) Sekas. Lee was the dear brother of Gail Sekas Paul and husband Harry of Wexford, PA and of Mark Sekas and wife Roberta, and nephews Paul G. Sekas (fiancée Danielle Sahni) and Michael J. Sekas. all of Orange, CT.  He is also survived by numerous Botsolas and Sekas relatives.

Lee graduated from Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, CT.  In his 20s he sustained devastating injuries.  With the encouragement of his family, Lee adapted to his disabilities.  Although confined to a wheelchair, losing a leg, and having limited use of an arm, he resided independently at the First Church Village at Wethersfield for many years.  He worked as a check-out bagger at Stop & Shop, initially at the Wethersfield store and then at the Rocky Hill store until retiring in 2012.  Lee was a familiar figure in Wethersfield, as he scooted around town doing errands and attending activities.  Over the years, he volunteered with the Wethersfield Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities, the Wethersfield Memorial Day Committee, and the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center.  He often spoke at local schools about the challenges encountered by individuals with special needs.  He thoroughly enjoyed the social activities at First Church Village.  Lee was blessed to have the support of his wonderful friends and neighbors.  Services were in the capable hands of the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford, CT on December 4 and 5, 2019.  Funeral services were held in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange on December 5th.  Interment followed in Orange Center Cemetery, Orange Center Rd., Orange, CT.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances be made in Lee’s name to either St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT 06477, or the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center, 156 Prospect Street, Wethersfield, CT.
