Amity Middle School in Orange held its first Jackie’s Nine pep rally of the school year on September 14th. It was an exciting event that brought the entire school together in the spirit of teamwork and community. The pep rally was used to launch the school’s Jackie’s Nine-character education program. This program is based on the book entitled, Jackie’s Nine—Jackie Robinson’s Values to Live By, written by Sharon Robinson. The program works to support positive behavior by promoting teamwork, determination, persistence, commitment, integrity, justice, citizenship, courage, and excellence.
Students will participate in lessons and activities tied to these character traits throughout the year. In addition, each month two students from each team will be recognized who consistently exhibit the character trait of the month. During the month of September teachers are recognizing students who show exceptional teamwork. Other students will be recognized throughout the year for illustrating the other characteristics of Jackie Robinson.
