Orange residents Liqun Song, MD, and Kathleen D’Orso, RN, were recently honored at Griffin Hospital’s annual Nurses Week luncheon.
Dr. Song received the 2015 Hospital Physician of the Year Award, which is based on voting by the hospital’s Nursing staff. In nominating Dr. Song, Griffin nurses admired and appreciated her knowledgeable, yet humble attitude and commitment to teamwork.
“Dr. Song is described by both patients and nurses as a wonderful doctor,” said Dr. Frederick Browne, vice president of Medical Affairs in presenting the award. “She is caring and compassionate not only to her patients and their families, but to the nurses as well. She is thorough in her interactions with her patients and makes sure they understand and are comfortable with their plan of care and will often check up on them multiple times a day. We at Griffin Hospital are lucky to have her.”
D’Orso was awarded the Donald Torok Memorial Scholarship. She is entering into the final year of her doctorate in nursing practice degree.
“We know that she will succeed in everything she does,” said Clinical Director Kelly Egan, RN. “She is intelligent, energetic, caring, compassionate, and an invaluable resource for the 1 North Unit staff.”
