Great River Rowing “Sweeps The Sweeps” In Providence

The Great River Rowing club of Shelton, CT, competed in Providence Sweeps and Skulls this weekend, earning 6 gold, 2 bronze, and 1 silver medals. Pictured above from L to R, Meredith Newman, Maddie Parente, Lauren Knapp, and Molly McGuire, who powered their way past 4 other teams to decisively win gold in the women’s quad skull. McGuire  is from Orange, and attends Amity High School. Great River Rowing will resume in the fall. Practice is daily on the Housatonic River, out of Beacon Point Marina in Shelton. The program is open to middle school and high school students in the Greater New Haven Area, and the team competes in regattas through the Northeast.
