George (Bud) McDermott

George (Bud) McDermott, 87, of Orange, CT and Naples, FL passed away on October 11, 2015 after a courageous six year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of June McDermott. He was born in Milford, CT; the son of the late George and Florence McDermott.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and then went on to work for SNET Co. for 37 years until he retired in 1989. He was a 56 year past active member of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department, served as Deputy Fire Chief and Chief for the remaining term of the late Frank Knight. He served as Captain of the past Milford Volunteer Fire Department and also worked for the Stratford EMS. He was also a member of the New Haven County Fire Chiefs Association, a judge at the Milford 260 muster, and a Connecticut Forest Fire Warden

He is survived by two daughters, Terri and Wendy, brother James McDermott, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his best friend and companion, his dog Buddy.

He was predeceased by his son, David McDermott, and sister, Florence McDermott.

He was a very kind and caring man and will be missed by all who knew him.
