New Haven Orchestra Trip

Join us on Saturday, February 2 & May 11, 2019 for a trip to the New Haven Chamber Orchestra performing at the Fair Haven Middle School.  Just leave your car at High Plains and ride with us into New Haven for this free concert.  Call (203) 891-4784 to register.  Departs at 1:00pm.

Orange Lions Club Pizza Party

Join us on Wednesday, February 11, for a Dean Martin themed Cabaret from 1:30—3:00pm.  Jack Lynn will perform the music of Dean Martin.  The Lions Club of Orange will serve pizza and soda.  Call (203) 891-4784 to reserve a seat!

No AARP Tax Program

Please be aware that due to the renovation project at the HPCC, the Orange Senior Center will not be able to offer the AARP Tax program.  Additional dates have been added at the Milford Senior Center.  Milford Senior Center will have AARP Tax appointments on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Call the Milford Senior Center at (203) 877-5131 to schedule an appointment at 9:00 or 10:30, by appointment.

Living Treasure Nominations Now Being Accepted

Nominations are being accepted through March 1, 2019 for the 2019 Living Treasure Awards.  The three individuals chosen will be honored at the Living Treasure Award ceremony on May 24, 2019, from 5-8pm at the Race Brook Country Club in Orange.  Forms can be found in the Senior Center office.

Wellness with Shop Rite

Join us on Monday, February 4 from 12:00 in the Café when Shop Rite of Orange’s Registered Dietitian, Courtney Huggins, RD will create a healthy dish to sample.

AARP Smart Driving Course

The next AARP Driver’s Training course will be Thursday, February 7.  The cost of the “AARP Smart Driving Course” will be $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.  Call the senior center to sign up.

Lotus Lantern & Korean Culture Presentation

Join us February 25 at 1:00pm for the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project (KSCPP) lotus lantern craft class.  The class includes the making of a lotus lantern, viewing documentaries and homemade traditional Korean desserts.  The cost is $5 to cover the supplies for the lanterns.  Stop by the office to sign up.

Food That Help Prevent Osteoporosis

Senior Art Show

Calling all artists, the annual Senior Art Show at the Case Memorial Library is this May!  Start collecting your pieces.  You may submit 2 pieces to the show.  We share the event with Amity High School Seniors.  There will be a reception Thursday, May 9 to invite family and friends so you can brag!  Artists are asked to bring a food item to the reception for a pot luck.  Registration forms will be available in the senior center.

Movie of the Month

Friday, February 8 “A Star is Born”, at 1:00pm, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.  A remake of the 1976 classic where a musician helps a young singer find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.  Popcorn to be served.  Call to reserve a seat (203) 891-4784.

Documentary & Discussion

Join us for 175th Anniversary as we watch the film Orange 175th on February 22 at 1:00pm.  This movie captures what it was like in Orange in 1972 as the town celebrates its 150 year!  Popcorn and soda to be served.  Call for a seat (203) 891-4784.

Mac Computers – Learn from an Expert!

Josh will teach a 4-week Mac Computers class on Thursday, February 7—28.  Class fee is $20.  Class time is 9:00am to 11:00am.

iPhone with Aubry

Aubry will teach a 1 week/4-day iPhone class from February 11—14.  Class fee is $20.  Class time is 11:30am to 1:30am.

Afternoon Fun!

Arts & Crafts on Monday, Name 5 or Scattergories on Tuesdays, Mexican Train Dominos on Wednesdays, Bingo on Thursdays, Scrabble on Fridays at 1:00pm in the Cafe.  So, come on out and join us and be part of the fun!

Movie Club

Join us on a celluloid adventure!  Our group will discuss a current movie playing locally.  We will then meet to critique the film as we discuss the script, acting, cinematography and directing.  Meetings are held on the second Friday of the month at 3pm in the town conference room at the HPCC.

Hot Lunch

The Orange Senior Center offers a lunch Monday through Friday, 11:30am – 12:00pm.  A $3.00 donation is suggested for persons 60 years and over.  To register call (203) 891-4765 before 1pm, the day before.


CT Flower Show & Lunch

No minimum trip February 21, 2019 (snow date 2/22).  “Breath of Spring” at the CT Flower & Garden Show at the Connecticut Convention Center with a lunch stop at Dakota’s Restaurant for Prime Rib (cooked Medium only), Mesquite Grilled Salmon, or wood Grilled Chicken served with all the trimmings.  Cost $89pp.  Includes transportation, Lunch, & Admission.  Full payment due at registration (considerable walking).

Tiny Beautiful Things Senior Center Trip February 27, 2019

Based on Strayed’s bestselling book, Tiny Beautiful Things is a deeply funny, empathetic, and uplifting experience about an anonymous online advice columnist who creates a beloved column.  10 people can go on the Senior Center van otherwise you can drive yourself to the Long Wharf Theater.  Includes lunch at Brazi’s and departs at 12 noon from the High Plains Community Center.  Cost $86pp, includes transportation, or $81 if you drive yourself.  Includes lunch, ticket to the show and driver’s gratuity.  Full payment due at registration (Minimal Walking).

Sleigh Ride At Adams Farm, VT

No minimum trip March 7, 2019.  Every sleigh is pulled by a team of Belgian Draft Horses through maple groves and pines, into an open meadow where the views are wonderful.  Lunch will be at the Bew England House in Brattleboro, Vermont.  Choice will be Pot Roast or Butternut Squash Ravioli served with all the trimmings.  Cost $117pp, includes transportation, luncheon, sleigh ride and driver’s gratuity.  Full payment due at registration (Minimal Walking).

Rhythm Of The Dance At The Westchester Theater

No minimum trip March 12, 2019.  After lunch sit back and watch a gifted cast of young dancers, musicians, 3 Irish tenors and live performance from the entire troupe.  Cost:  $113pp. Includes transportation, lunch, show, & driver gratuities.  Full payment due at reservation. (Minimal Walking)
