The annual meeting of the Friends of the Case Memorial Library will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 1:00. There will be a brief business meeting, after which the Lucy Scillia Scholarship will be awarded to an Orange graduating senior. Scillia was a school librarian for many years and was devoted to furthering a love of reading and education.
We will then be entertained by “Shakespeare on the Sound (SOS), a non-profit, professional theatre company. This year’s production is “A Midsummer’s Night Dream in 30 Minutes” based on the comedy written by William Shakespeare. It is an original play devised by members of its Apprentice Company of emerging artists. The play tells the story of “Midsummer” in a fun, imaginative, and interactive way and incorporates some of Shakespeare’s text.”
“SOS is committed to producing affordable, professional open-air productions of the plays of William Shakespeare and related authors. Working in collaboration with area civic, business and educational institutions, SOS presents an annual theatre festival, which brings great dramatic works to a broad audience, creating a forum for learning, appreciation and celebration. Their Educational programming goal is to build community through the arts, giving the works of Shakespeare a vibrant life beyond the summer festival with a variety of school, library, adult education, and art programs as a means to reach a diverse cross-section of people of all ages and economic backgrounds.”
