After five years of squeezing in practice space and makeshift fields for games, the Amity Girls Youth Lacrosse organization has a home field. The team began playing on the fields the first weekend in April, hosting teams from Wallingford.
Through a combined effort between the lacrosse organization and the town, funds were raised to clear the property at Fred Wolfe Park, seed and maintain the fields and late last month, a new driveway and parking lot were put down. West Rock Materials donated the crumbled asphalt materials used in the parking lot and Advanced Paving and Excavating donated labor and equipment. Both companies are in Woodbridge.
“I am extremely thrilled with Mr. (Warren) Luciani and Advanced Paving for his generosity to this project. Without people like him, projects like this would not be possible and we would not have been able to make ends meet,” said first Selectman Jim Zeoli.
