Mah Jongg Tournament

A Mah Jongg Tournament and luncheon to be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Temple. The Tournament, sponsored by the Temple, includes six rounds (24 games) of play and a complete dairy lunch. In addition, “coffee and” will be served at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $30 per person which covers the entire day. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, third and fourth places.

Judaic Art By Local Artist Jeanette Kuvin Oren

The Adult Education Committee of Temple Beth Sholom is hosting a presentation of Judaic art by local artist Jeanette Kuvin Oren on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:15 PM. Ms. Oren has created installation of pieces for more than 350 houses of worship, schools, community centers and camps across the world. Some of her artwork will be on display.

Ms. Oren specializes in large installations of glass & mosaic, fiber art, calligraphy, paper cutting, and painting, and is known for her commissioned Torah covers, Ark curtains, mosaics, metal Ark doors, wall-hangings and ketubot. Adult Education Conducts A Reading Hebrew Crash Course

The Adult Education Committee of Temple Beth Sholom, is conducting a free 6-week crash course in Reading Hebrew. The course starts on Thursday, October 29th, 7:00 – 8:00 PM at the Temple and continues on consecutive Thursday evenings. This beginner’s Reading Hebrew course is open to the public at no charge. Vendors Wanted

Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, will hold a Fall Vendor & Craft Show on Sunday, November 1st from 9am-4pm. Vendor space is available for $50. Refreshments available for purchase. Contact to learn more.

Adult Education Hosts A Discussion Of Harper Lee’s “Go Set A Watchman”

The Adult Education Committee of Temple Beth Sholom, is hosting a discussion of Harper Lee’s book “Go Set a Watchman”, led by Rabbi Benjamin Scolnic. The event takes place on Sunday, November 8th at 9:30 AM. Ms. Lee’s book has caused controversy due to the different portrayal of the lead character, Atticus Finch, compared to “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Light refreshments will be served.
