My name is Elliot Dubin and I am running for the Orange Board of Finance as a Democrat. I am an attorney licensed both in Connecticut and Illinois. Prior to practicing law in Connecticut, I was on the fulltime faculty at the University of North Texas where my primary teaching responsibilities were in Law, Management, and Human Resources. Additionally, I served on the department leadership. Prior to my legal and academic careers, I worked in the hospitality industry management departments of over 100 employees with large budgets and fiscal responsibilities.
I am running for the Orange Board of Finance because, simply put, our property taxes keep rising for no good reason. Our town reserves are much higher than required by S&P and Moody’s (which are the organizations responsible for rating towns for bonds) for a AAA rating. We need financial transparency and stabilization in our property taxes. Our current Board of Finance, which is responsible for preparing the budget for an annual town referendum, has not had fresh sets of eyes in years, and most importantly has raised your property taxes yearly for the last decade. It is time for a change. Please vote for me on November 5. Orange, Are You Ready?
