Thank you to all who attended the recent informational meeting on “Days for Girls & Kenyan Health Care Initiatives” at Case Memorial Library hosted by Orange Community Women. Days for Girls believes “every girl in the world deserves education, safety and dignity”. Its mission statement is, “Creating a more free, dignified, free and educated world through access to lasting feminine hygiene solutions and community-based health leadership programs”.
You can help Days for Girls by donating the following items:
Girls’ Panties: briefs sizes 10-16, no characters or words, Goal 2000 pairs;
Wash Cloths: brightly colored, no white, medium weight, Goal 800 cloths;
Ziploc Gallon Freezer bags: Only Ziploc brand (without zippers), Goal 2000 bags;
Prewashed Fabric needed: brightly colored, no animal or camouflage prints, 100% Quilter’s Cotton, Minimum ½ yard, Flannel – Minimun 2 ½ yards; and
Monetary Donations: Help build the new DFG Chumvi Sewing Center which will bring reusable feminine hygiene kits to girls and women in need and provide a sustainable living to Maasai women.
Orange Community Women will collect donations through November 30th in the collection box at Video Lab, 200 Boston Post Road, Orange, CT 06477. In addition to the drop box, you can contact Michelle at (203) 876-8615 for a pick-up.
