“Danger Is Part Of My Trade”

The East Haddam Stage Company (EHSCO) will present the 1930 Murder Mystery Radio Drama titled, Sherlock Holmes and The Adventure of the Speckled Band, at the Case Memorial Library on Saturday, October 14, at 1:00.

The EHSCO will use the Victorian actor and Connecticut native William Gillette’s actual script that was originally broadcast live in October of 1930 out of New York City.  The program is a 1-hour presentation beginning with a 15-minute introduction by Producing Artistic Director Kandie Carle who will explore mid-20th century radio show history and lore and how EHSCO came to have this authentic script.  Then 4 actors (John Hajnal, Piers Stonehart, William Matus and Kandie Carle) portray 7 different characters (including live sound effects!) in the 30-minute murder mystery.  Attendees become the studio audience.  The event wraps up with Q & A.

The East Haddam Stage Company launched in 2002 with a mission to showcase the talents of Connecticut actors, writers and poets.  The company creates intimate, non-musical comedies, dramas, and historical-based works as well as outdoor entertainment as the resident theatre at Gillette Castle State Park, East Haddam.

The Friends of the Library invite you to enjoy this very unique experience.  Its 25th anniversary continues to be celebrated with this program.  Please register either in person at the library or by calling 203.891.2170.
