Summer may be winding down but fellowship and worship activities are picking up at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Worship times are Sundays at 8 am and 9:30 am.
Recreational Fun continues on Wednesday mornings in the Parish Hall from 10:30am to Noon. Please join our Wednesday regulars for fellowship and fun. All are welcome.
Save the Date! Good Shepherd Sunday, September 11th. Sunday, September 11th, The Church of the Good Shepherd marks the opening of the program year with a festive Holy Eucharist at the 9:30am service. There will be a blessing of the students’ backpacks as they head back to school or advanced education, and an expanded coffee hour to welcome everyone back after the busy summer. We will celebrate our patron The Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, in scripture, prayer and song. Come join us! All are welcome here.
Confirmation at The Good Shepherd Starts this Fall. Persons interested in being confirmed in the Episcopal Church should contact the office (203-795-6577) as soon as possible. Teenagers in 10th grade or above, and adults 18 years of age and older are encouraged to become students. The teenage program will last the academic year. The adult program will run for about four months. Join us as we learn about the rich history and tradition of the Episcopal Church, the deeper spiritual teachings of the Bible, and our call to work for the common good of all persons.
On Saturday, September 17th at 9am we walk The Good Shepherd labyrinth again with The Rev. Diana Rogers. Please join us for our monthly labyrinth walk. Used for spiritual meditation and contemplation, walking the labyrinth has been a spiritual exercise for centuries. Come learn more about this enduring spiritual practice. Meet at the labyrinth on the south side of the church off Pryde Drive at 9am, rain or shine.
In September our popular Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on Wednesday, September 28th at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Anyone interested in knitting or crocheting a prayer shawl for a person in need is welcome to join us. Open to the public, we craft all year-round and meet regularly. Our prayer shawls are blessed during a Sunday Eucharist and then distributed by our parishioners to friends, neighbors and family members in need and at area hospitals.
The CGS Book Club meets on the last Tuesday of the month and discusses a different book every month. The September meeting is on Tuesday, September 27th at 7pm.
