The Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut will sponsor a luncheon in celebration of centenarians in the greater New Haven area. Writers, gardeners, music-lovers, knitters, loyal friends and beloved great-grandparents are just a few descriptions of the over twenty centenarians that we expect to attend.
Around one hundred friends, family members and community representatives will also attend. We are especially delighted that the Commissioner for the State Department on Aging, Elizabeth Ritter, will attend and bring a welcome.
The Board of Directors of the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut is proud to be hosting this luncheon for the 29th year. This event is held as part of Older Americans Month. Older adults have made countless contributions and sacrifices to ensure a better life for future generations. Since 1963 communities across the country have shown their gratitude by celebrating Older Americans Month each May. This year, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act, the theme “Get into the Act” focuses on how older adults are taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their communities, and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
