Amity Teen Center Looking for Volunteers from the Community

The Amity Teen Center, Inc., located at 10 Selden Street in Woodbridge, Connecticut welcomes professionals in the community to offer workshops and/or mentoring at our after-school program Tuesday thru Thursday 3 – 6 p.m. for at-risk teens. Volunteering can be done on a one time or ongoing basis. We are trying to enhance their appreciation of the need for education and basic reading, writing and math skills.

Examples of appropriate workshops would be on banking, budgeting, job skills, life skills, self-improvement. Any appropriate activities that support our mission and any level of participation would be greatly appreciated.

In addition, we are starting a new community service “company” for teens to learn job skills by doing hands on activity. This will be a medical equipment exchange available to all ages.

Mission: The Amity Teen Center mission is to (1) provide a community anchor for teens where they may socialize and participate in recreational and educational activities in a safe environment, (2) offer after school programs to stimulate creativity, enhance self-esteem, and develop social and educational skills, and (3) develop awareness of community among teens through community service projects, intergenerational programs and multicultural programs.
